Applications can be withdrawn at any point before a licence has been issued and can usually be made for the following reasons*:
- the application was made in error
- the property is determined as being exempt from licensing
- a licence is no longer required to be issued (e.g. the property has been sold since the application was submitted etc)
Make a decision
1.To Withdraw an application, go to 'Decisions', and then click on 'Make a decision'.

2. Choose, 'Licence application', then choose 'Withdraw application'

3. Enter the reasons for withdrawing the application

- The first text box should contain the formal reason for the withdrawal of application and will be included in the email to the applicant to confirm the action.
- The second text box can contain any optional notes related to the decision for internal use.
4. Determine if a refund is required for the application fee

5. Determine if approval is required for this decision

Identify if the decision requires senior officer or manager's approval. If yes, the user should 'save and continue later' and advise the senior officer to retrieve the property record to complete the approval decision.
6. Review and finalise
Review and finalise the decision by selecting `finalise decision`. All parts can be changed by selecting `change` against the relevant section:

This action cannot be undone. Users should be certain of this decision before committing to withdrawing an application.
Email to applicant
An email will be automatically sent to the applicant once the decision to withdraw an application has been finalised.
A copy of the email will be saved in the document store.
Issue refund
A task to refund the licence fee payment will be generated if this was specified in the decision.

Review the task and complete the refund in the 'Payments' section.
Satisfy the task status once the refund has been applied successfully:

Any unpaid outstanding payments will be removed from the payments section.
TIP: Withdrawing an application instead of resetting the property will preserve payment, refund and application history
