Guidance on inspection app crashing issues including if it stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open.

There are 5 key steps that can be taken to help troubleshoot any crashing issues with the Metastreet Inspector app including:

  1. Quit and RE-LAUNCH The App
  2. Reboot The Device
  3. Update The App
  4. Delete The App And Re-Install
  5. Update iOS To The Latest Version

1: Quit and RE-LAUNCH The App

The simplest solution at times to a resolve a crashing application is to quit the app and then relaunch it. The idea behind this is that you’ll clear the app from memory and allow for a clean launch.

  1. Double-click on the Home button to bring up the multitasking screen
  2. Locate the application you wish to quit, then swipe up on the app to quit out of it
  3. Hit the Home button to return to the Home Screen of iOS, then tap the app icon to re-open it again

This sometimes works to remedy some basic causes of application crashes but not all.

2: Reboot The Device

Sometimes just rebooting the iPad works really well in resolving many common app crashing issues.

Force reboot the iPad by holding down the Power button and Home button until the device flashes the Apple logo. Then let it boot back up and try to use the app again.

3: Update The App

Keeping the Metastreet Inspector App updated is vital to maintaining application stability. We often identify and deploy bug fixes which may fix the issues you are experiencing.

4: Delete The App And Re-Install

Deleting will simultaneously uninstall an app.

  1. Locate the app on the Home Screen of iOS, then tap and hold on the icon
  2. Tap on the (X) icon when it appears, then confirm you want to delete the app
  3. Launch the App Store and use the Search function (or visit the Purchases tab) and locate the name of the application you just deleted, then re-download it

5: Update iOS To The Latest Version

Updates to iOS often include bug fixes for system software, but some of those bug fixes and refinements also impact third party apps like the Metastreet Inspector app too. Additionally, our app may actually require a new version of iOS for certain features to work, or even for the application to work at all. Be sure to back up the iOS device before you update iOS.

  1. Back up the device
  2. Open “Settings” > “General” > and go to “Software Update”
  3. Choose “Download & Install” and let the entire iOS updating process complete

Updating to a new version of iOS and a new version can often immediately resolve the problem.
